Our U12 and U13 netball teams participated in the PGSGU Inter- Schools Netball Tournament on 28th August 2017. It was a beautiful, balmy day at Rustenburg High School and the Tournament was played in a true spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. Congratulations to our U12’s who came 5th and to our U13’s who nabbed 3rd place, just one point away from Rustenburg, who came 2nd. St Cyprians won both age groups.

WGJS vs. MICKELFIELD
The U9 and U10 netball girls enjoyed a game in the rain at Mickelfield while the home games remained a little drier. The girls played competitively and gave it their all on the court. We are so proud of the way they represented Wynberg!
PLAYED 10, WON 5, DREW 1 LOST 4
On Wednesday 30th August 2017 WGHS hosted a round of friendly netball matches against Sweet Valley. It was wonderful to see the girls playing without the pressure of competition and, whilst they were more relaxed, they certainly did not reduce the pressure on the opposition and the matches were all well contested and lots of fun.

Many thanks to our coaches, Mrs Martin, Ms Johannisen and Ms Flanders for giving up their free time to coach the girls at the tournament.

PGSGU INTERSCHOOLS NETBALL
MONDAY 28TH AUGUST 2017
Congratulations to all of our U12 and U13 players who were selected to participate in the PGSGU Inter Schools Netball Tournament held at Rustenburg High School on 28 August 2017. It was a very hot and balmy day but the standard of netball displayed at the tournament was extremely high, despite the heat. The competition was fierce as teams from many Girls Schools across the Peninsula vied for top positions at the tournament. Our WGJS girls held their nerve and produced some fabulous results. Once again, Wynberg pride shone through at the festival and our girls tried their hardest, never giving up throughout the tough tournament.
Well done to both teams on sterling performances. Our U12 girls came 6th and the U13 girls excelled to come 3rd at the tournament, being pipped at Second place by Rustenburg by only one point!
Our Chess team beat Reddam 4-2 on 18th August 2017 and beat Muizenburg 6-0 on 25th August 2017. They lost to Herzlia 2-4 on 1st September 2017.
Hockey 2017WGJS played very tough fixtures in the last two weeks. Rustenburg have once again proven to be our toughest competition this year. All teams played exciting hockey and we are very proud of their performance against such a strong opposition. More pleasingly, our results against Sweet Valley the second time around this season show exactly how our girls and coaches have embraced the brand of hockey Wynberg is building. The girls have grown so much. Well done to all involved.
