Over the next few weeks our Grade 7s are going to be doing some problem solving for Mars One, the first human settlement on Mars. They are using various robots to:
- Use a Sphero to try and transport ‘astronaughts’ to the ‘outpost’
- Create a syncronised Martian dance using BeeBots
- Create a space junk collector using Dash
- Transport ‘rock samples’ to the ‘outpost’ using Lego Mindstorms
ENERGY AND ELECTRICITY
Our Grade 5 learners were exploring energy in movement this week. They made some creative car designs and learnt how to power their cars using the potential energy of a balloon. It was an exciting and and enlightening process.
Our Grade 6 learners showed perseverance and resilience as they tackled creating a “steady hand game”. This project allowed the girls to work through the design process and use electrical components and parallel circuits to create the game. There were frustrating moments along the way, but as groups, they pulled together and developed impressive prototypes.
This year the Foundation Phase took us on a magical musical adventure to find the elusive Yeti and feed him his favourite food. The combination of enthusiastic little actresses, fantastic costumes and set designs, and beautiful music provided three wonderful evenings of pure entertainment.
