GRADE 5 outing to the Castle of Good Hope
Our Grade 5s enjoyed their Heritage enlightening experience at the Castle. There were many mixed emotions during the day, as they were shown the prison cells and torture chambers, as well as the key opening ceremony (which includes a loud bang from the cannon). The girls described their experience as scary, extravagant, fascinating and fun.
GRADE 5 SOIL INVESTIGATION
This term our girls are learning to ‘dig deeper’ and uncover what lies underground. Through the topics of Atlantis and Mining, they are learning about the layers and types of soil. They conducted an investigation to prove which soil type – clay, sand or loam – would be best for planting.
The Grade 3s all happily jumped onto the Springbok Atlas buses and headed to Paarl for a fun-filled and interesting day out on the fruit and vegetable farm. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. We tasted, smelled, investigated and identified different plant types and had a wonderful time. Considering that this was their first outing without parental assistance, they took the day in their stride.
