The Service Pillar would like to send a huge thank you for all your generosity and love this term. We have made many people smile by gifting bright and beautiful flowers and soap parcels.
Please remember that term 4 is our Ikhwezi Santa Shoebox drive. Full details will follow at the beginning of next term. We look forward to providing wonderful treats to this deserving children again this year.
Recently Krista Roman in Grade 6, decided that she wished to help CHOC and their residents. These are children who come to Cape Town to receive treatment for cancer. Their stay can be long or short. With her mom’s permission, she made leaflets which she dropped in her neighbours’ letterboxes, asking for donations of clothing, bedding, etc. Second-hand toys cannot be passed on because of the risk of infection. Krista had a large box of Lego which she no longer uses and mom popped it in the dishwasher to sterilise it. Today I took her along to drop off a large box of gently worn clothing and the Lego. Just so happens that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Very proud of this young lady. she did this all on her own.
Olivia Rudd in Grade 4 runs a stall selling toys. All her profit will be going to Aid 4 Animals in Distress, an animal charity. WGJS is proud of you Olivia.
We challenge our girls to also make a difference to a human or animal or the planet on the weekends.
